
UTOPIA Striving for Change
Under the patronage of the Northern Governor, Judge Ramzi Nohra, Utopia held the Ending ceremony of “Citizens for Change”, a joint project with Lebanon Humanitarian Fund at Al Sebaa Tower, Port Road, Tripoli.
The aim of this closing event was to celebrate the completion of various planned activities. It included a screening of short videos summarizing the various components of the project.
The ceremony included a speech by Utopia, presented by the program director, Mr. Shafik Abdel Rahman who stated:
This project which is financed by Lebanon Humanitarian Funds, aimed at establishing seven committees in seven different regions in Tripoli. The committees include people from different age categories (between 26 and 45 years old), which assists in creating a link between the people and the municipality. He added: Seven small projects were implemented in seven different areas, as well as the renovation of a school in Bab al-Tabbaneh and the establishment of a sewing factory that falls under our economic and social women empowerment program. He also praised the governor of the North.
Judge Nohra also conveyed a speech on the work of the association and its role, and said: “We must thank Utopia for its efforts in cooperation with international partners in raising awareness among youth about their responsibilities, duties and rights towards the local authorities. As well as Establishing the sewing mill and the restoration of Al Abrar school in Bab Tebbaneh, in addition to activating the tourism sector in the city through the organized tours.
Afterwards, Mr. Abdul Rahman presented a shield to Nohra in recognition of his efforts and support.
This was followed by four performances, including dance, rap and comedy, all under the title “Youth’s ability to change”. The event included an awareness section on the most urgent environmental crisis in Tripoli, which is the Landfill (Mountain of Waste). In the end, there was a buffet of the most delicious traditional Tripoli dishes. nonetheless, this cooperation consisted of a series of development and restoration projects in several marginalized areas in Tripoli such as Zahariya, Tabbaneh, Qubba, Abu Samra and Jabal Mohsen.
Such as:
– The formation of 7 regional committees to follow up with the municipality’s work. The Association has started to provide information about any problems, objections or complaints directly from the people living in the regions such as Tebbaneh and others.
- Rehabilitation of Al-Abrar school in Tebbaneh so that it became suitable for the reception of students.
- Establishment of a sewing factory: “Anbar Al Khiyatin” in order to support the role of women in society and enabling them economically and financially.
- Implementation of 7 development / beautification projects in Zahariya, Tabbaneh, Qubba, Abu Samra and Jabal Mohsen.
– Organization of Three tours in Tripoli for expatriate communities to familiarize them with the most important archaeological sites in tripoli, where these tours intend to re-place this city on the tourist map in Lebanon.
– Launching the Photography Marathon on social stability
– The addition of areas and streets of Tripoli previously not found on the map “Google” to facilitate movement within the city.
