Equipping Community Kitchens for Emergency Response Under Shabake2

Mar 1, 10 AM

Under the Shabake2 project, UTOPIA took proactive steps to enhance emergency response in North Lebanon by assessing and equipping four community kitchens in Akkar (Bebnine, Berkayel, Halba, and Burj Al Arab). These kitchens, located in technical schools and municipalities, were evaluated for their potential to function effectively during crises.

Following these assessments, UTOPIA provided essential tools and appliances, strengthening food security infrastructure and ensuring communities can respond efficiently in times of need. By empowering local communities to manage their own food security, this initiative contributes to a more resilient and self-sufficient crisis response system in Akkar.
The Shabake2 project is supported by AFD – Agence Française de Développement – and the Centre de Crise et De Soutien and implemented by the French public agency for international technical cooperation, Expertise France.
